Splashers, as the Star Wars: The Last Jedi train moves full speed toward December 15, 2017. In a recent interview with GQ, Adam Driver (who plays villain Kylo Ren) just dropped quite a bombshell so close to the release of Episode VIII. Driver starts by speaking to what drew him to J.J. Abrams The Force Awakens:

“I remember the initial conversations about having things ‘skinned… peeling away layers to evolve into other people, and the person Kylo’s pretending to be on the outside is not who he is. He’s a vulnerable kid who doesn’t know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he’s playing a role. JJ had that idea initially and I think Rian took it to the next level.”

And, here comes the big drop…

“You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices…”

Say what now? You say Rey is royalty? Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. We all assumed that Rey was a princess, right? Question is, is she Luke’s daughter (what love affair did we miss?) or is she Kylo’s sister? Ooo, thank goodness we don’t have to wait much longer to find out. Driver also spoke about Carrie Fisher and recalled watching The Force Awakens in theaters, you know, the part where he kind of kills Han Solo.

“When I watched the premiere, I felt sick to my stomach… Immediately, I thought I was going to puke. I was holding my wife [Joanne Tucker]’s hand, and she’s like, ‘You’re really cold. Are you OK?’ Because I just knew what was coming – I kill Harrison Ford – and I didn’t know how this audience of 2,000 people was going to respond to it, you know?”

So, what do you think of this Rey news? Is she related to Kylo Ren, or something else? Guess away! We’ll see if there’s more information in the November 2nd issue of GQ.

    Maybe he’s talking about Leia.

    • Interesting, I haven’t seen Force Awakens in forever, but I assumed everyone knew she was the princess before going military.
