FILM REVIEW: Sofia Coppola’s THE BEGUILED Uncomfortably Charms You

Sofia Coppola is undoubtedly considered one of the great artists of our American generation, be it for her singular aesthetic touch or her willingness to push the envelope and jar the audiences in subtle and unexpected ways. A small minority, myself included, offer a quiet dissent from the universal praise she receives, thinking her art overwrought and her exertions obvious. Her latest film, The Beguiled (a remake of 1971 movie based on a novel), recently won Best Director at Cannes (with Sofia becoming only the second woman to do so), and been received with mostly positive but not universal commendation....

CARNAGE Will Be Villain in VENOM Film

As Sony and Marvel prepare for the big launch of what they hope will be one of many successful projects in the Spider-Man universe, executives have confirmed that a fellow known as Carnage will make his live-action debut in the upcoming Tom Hardy film. THR Reported: “As for the expansion plans, Tom Hardy is starring in Venom, dated for Oct. 5, 2018, which will also feature the villain Carnage.” So it seems that Harry’s Eddie Brock won’t be the only one with an extraterrestrial symbiote to deal with but, given that Venom isn’t exactly your typical hero, ahem, it will be interesting to see what...

Michael Bay Says THE LAST KNIGHT Will Be Last TRANSFORMERS Movie

Days ahead of the release of the fifth installment in the Transformers series, The Last Knight, famed director Michael Bay has said in an interview that this really is the last entry of the films, at least with him behind the helm. Speaking to Fandango about upcoming plans, Bay said: “These movies that I’ve done, they’re massive movies. They take a lot out of you. I’ve done it enough, and I’ve had a great time doing it. I’m going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you’re ahead, you know. I think...
