Black Adam Rumored To Be Man of Steel 2 Villain

Can you believe it’s been more than three years since we first heard about Dwayne Johnson being cast as Black Adam? As a fan, it was a little disappointing to hear that he would play a villain instead of a hero. But, what can’t Dwayne Johnson do? Seriously, if he signed onto a project to direct the choreography, I’d still be optimistic.  You can do no wrong Rock, you can do no wrong.

The Rock Black Adam

Now then, while at the premiere for The Fate of the Furious, MTV was able to squeeze a little blood from the Rock (see what I did there?) about his long-awaited Shazam movie and stand-alone Black Adam film.

Johnson told MTV’s Josh Horowitz:

“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building. We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line.”

Johnson seemed very excited about the Black Adam film “It’s just fucking awesome.” Which is great to hear him say, but in the DCEU words like that get thrown around all the time. I heard good things about Batman v Superman before we all got to see it. I also heard Wonder Woman was supposed to be great before the phrase “it’s salvageable” became synonymous with that film.

But, not all hope is lost. Mini-SPOILER RUMOR AHEAD: Man of Steel 2 is now rumored to have Black Adam as the villain. Dwayne Johnson is too big a star to wait for a Shazam movie to make his DCEU appearance. Sure, let’s start by watching him destroy Superman, then having Shazam save the day. Matthew Vaughn is still in talks about directing Man of Steel 2 as well.

Let’s just pray to whomever we believe in that Johnson’s schedule allows for his DCEU debut sooner than later. He’s the biggest star in the DC’s stable right now, sorry Batfleck, and we can’t just keep him on the sidelines. More news as it comes, stay tuned.
