BLACK PANTHER Bests Advance Ticket Sales Record Held by BATMAN v. SUPERMAN

According to Fandango.com and other reports, Black Panther is set to score a huge opening weekend if pre-sale tickets are any indication. The current record belonged to the otherwise beleaguered Batman v. Superman, but a new king exists. Black Panther now has the most advance ticket sales of all time. The WB movie eventually opened to a $166 million weekend, so maybe you can expect more from the Disney/Marvel release. It would be a big rake for the studio as well as for diversity efforts in the industry.

Three weeks ago it was reported that the film was already ahead of Civil War, but now it seems like a $120 million to $150 million opening weekend is definitely in the works, with probably more to come if the advance ticket sales are any indication.

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars a bevy of household names, and will be released on February 16, 2018. Stay tuned for further coverage here.
