Mark Millar’s CHRONONAUTS Film Gets A Screenwriter

Deadline is reporting that Playwright-screenwriter Philip Gawthorne has been hired by Universal Pictures to adapt the graphic novel Chrononauts, a comic book series created by Mark Millar and Sean Gordon Murphy.

Fast & Furious franchise including The Fate Of The Furious writer Chris Morgan is producing the film, while Millar along with co-creator Sean Gordon Murphy will executive produce.

The project is like Back to the Future meets Fast and the Furious.

Chrononauts follows Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly, two red-blooded American guys who also happen to be scientific geniuses. With the whole world watching, they embark on the world’s first time-travel experiment. But when their planned routine goes off-course, they’re left to fend for themselves – leading to an era-hopping adventure.

Gawthorne previously wrote the screenplay for Kojak for producers Scott Stuber and Vin Diesel for the Fast & Furious franchiser to star. He also scripted Lionsgate’s remake of Cube and is co-writing STX’s Black Hole as well as Warner Bros’ World Breaker..

Millar made some of Marvel’s greatest offering titles, including Civil War, which was the reason for Captain America: Civil War film. Millar also created Wanted, which marked his first collaboration with Morgan; others successful titles include Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Millar took to twitter an had this to say about the news and who he would like to see play the roles of Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly.
