COCO Tops Domestic Box Office Again Ahead of STAR WARS Release

Disney’s award-winning Day of the Dead film Coco was box office champ across the world for the third straight weekend this past weekend. With about $18,6 million in North America, Coco reached above $135 million at the domestic box office. An additional $55,3 million abroad takes its international total to about $250 million, a total of about $390 million. That reign will come to an end this weekend when Disney releases The Last Jedi.

Most of the other movies repeated their performances from prior weekends. Justice League slowed its decline a bit, landing at second with $9,5 million domestically (good for $212 million total, which together with an international gross of about $400 million puts the WB vehicle well-ahead of $600 million. Wonder was in third again, with about $8,5 million and a total of about $100 million. It has made another $24 million or so abroad.

Meanwhile, the James Franco spoof The Disaster Artist shot up to fourth place by expanding to several hundred theaters. It made $6,4 million this weekend, a total of about $8 million. Thor: Ragnarok rounds out the top five with $6,3 million, a domestic total of over $300 million which combined with over $530 million abroad to put the Norse god in the vicinity of $833 million total cume.

Other films in the top ten this weekend include The Star, Murder on the Orient Express, and Lady Bird.
