Common Would Love To Still Play John Stewart In GREEN LANTERN CORPS

The Green Lantern Corps film is still in development, with a projected release date of Summer 2020. Recently, a list of potential actors to play Hal Jordan was released. Jon Stewart rumors have yet to begin. But, while promoting John Wick: Chapter 2, actor-recording artist Common was asked whether he would open to being a Green Lantern.

Some may remember that Common was cast as Jon Stewart in George Miller’s failed Justice League movie years ago. For the Green Lantern Corps movie, Hal and Jon will co-headline, for what IGN has called “Lethal Weapon in Space.” Makes perfect sense given how well Guardians of the Galaxy was received.

Common, who you may recall made a cameo as a criminal in last summer’s Suicide Squad movie was asked about his potential involvement, Common had this to say:

“No, I haven’t spoken to DC. John Stewart, the character, is amazing. When I had the opportunity of potentially being John Stewart, when we were working, I learned how he was part of the Green Lantern Corps and all that he was doing. He was kind of community-driven so I felt like, ‘Oh, man, I love this character”

“He used his mind to do a lot of things so I connected with him. I just love the character, but I don’t know, I haven’t talked to DC about it but, you know, hey! Yeah, I would love [to]. That would be an honor to play John Stewart.”

What say you? Would you like to see Common draped in Jade and jewelry? Sound off below.
