Deadpool’s Tim Miller To Direct NEUROMANCER
Director Tim Miller (Deadpool) has signed on to helm Neuromancer for 20th Century Fox. The studio is looking for writers to pen the screenplay, which is based off the cyberpunk novel by author William Gibson.
The synopsis for the Neuromancer novel reads:
“Case was one of the best console cowboys until he stole from one of his employers, who in turn damaged his nervous system so that he cannot access cyberspace anymore. Broke and destroying himself, Case is contacted by Molly, a heavily modified razorgirl, to work for a shadowy colonel who needs a cyberspace cowboy for a secret mission. The employer fixes Case’s damaged brain, but implants a slow dissolving poison to make sure the cyberspace wiz does his bidding, in attempting to abduct a perverse psychopath who is able to create holograms with the force of his mind.”
Sources say Fox was keen on keeping Miller in house by attaching him to another film project, such as Neuromancer, after the director abruptly dropped out of helming Deadpool 2 with actor Ryan Reynolds over creative differences.
Miller has since found other other high-profile projects to direct such as the newly-announced Terminator film with original director and creator James Cameron on board to produce. Miller also set up the film adaptation Influx at Fox with screenwriter Mark Bomback, which is based on the Daniel Suarez sci-fi/thriller novel.
