Derek Connolly Hired to Write METAL GEAR SOLID

According to Variety, screenwriter Derek Connolly (SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED) has been hired by Sony Pictures to write the latest draft for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ METAL GEAR SOLID film adaptation, based on the popular PlayStation video game franchise. Famed “SPIDER-MAN” producer Avid Arad and his son, Ari Arad are producing the film.

METAL GEAR SOLID is a video game published by Konami and launched on the Sony PlayStation in 1998 and follows special-ops agent Solid Snake, whose top-secret mission is to infiltrate and eradicate a rogue terrorist organization armed with WMD (Weapons Of Mass Destruction). Solid Snake must pass through difficult levels to defeat various villains in order to reach the final boss: a cybernetic-nuclear machine known only as “Metal Gear Rex.”

Connolly’s previous work includes this years KONG: SKULL ISLAND, which was directed by Vogt-Roberts, Colin Trevorrow’s JURASSIC WORLD and it’s upcoming sequel, JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, which will be directed by J.A. Bayona.
