Disney, Fox, And Others Will Play In The Super Bowl While WB Takes A Knee
If you prefer trailers over touchdowns on Super Bowl Sunday then you won’t be disappointed during the big game.
There’s a ton of blockbuster movies being lined up in the next few months and the movie studios know it’s that time of the year to open up those wallets.
Deadline has just put out a great article breaking down not only the risks involved when marketing in the Super Bowl, but also a list of potential movie trailers that can show up at anytime.
Here’s the studios that are lining up during the Super Bowl for the Hail Mary of movie marketing, and the studio that’s riding the bench:
Disney will advertise two films (possibly the next installments of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Pirates of the Caribbean). Fox is expected to advertise the psychological thriller A Cure For Wellness and possibly one other film — either Logan starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine or the next Alien.
Paramount will advertise (we think it will be Baywatch, although it could go with Transformers: The Last Knight). Universal also has committed to at least one spot during the game, with Sony in the pre-game show.
Warner Bros. is not in — but its promotional partners might be (as was the case last year with Turkish Airlines on Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice).
Ah yes. Super Bowl Sunday. The Monday after should be a national holiday don’t you think?
I’m disappointed I won’t see any of the Justice League show up but all the other rumored movie trailers are going to be awesome. Transformers yo, robots in motherf*cking disguise…and Mark Wahlberg.
What movie trailer are you most excited to see in the Super Bowl?
Give me an Alien: Covenant trailer and I’m good till summer.
Falcons or Patriots?
Tough choice but I’m leaning Atlanta.
Best of luck to the teams and the studios and have a good game.
