Unreleased Disney Film Held For Ransom By Hackers
Splashians, Disney has been hacked. I know, I feel your rage. How dare someone come into the House of Mouse and pilfer. Well, unless they grabbed a Letterman jacket with mouse ears on it. I’ve always wanted one, but won’t pay for it.
Disney Chief Bob Iger confirmed that hackers have access to one of the company’s unreleased films. And, they have demanded a “huge” ransom. In the words of Les Grossman “we don’t negotiate with terrorists.” If you pay them, you’ll be paying every two-bit theif who can hack. It’s just not wise.
While no one can confirm exactly which film is being held hostage, different sources have speculated it’s either Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales or Cars 3. Both movies will make a pretty penny but neither are worth submitting to blackmailers demands. Now, if we were talking Star Wars: The Last Jedi which is bound to make a billion and then some… well, then you pay.
Disney is said to be working the federal agents and monitoring the leaks online. The Hollywood Reporter claims it does not appear Disney will give in to the demand. We’ll have more on the story as it develops.
