FANTASTIC VOYAGE Is On Hold- Guillermo del Toro Focused on Award Season
Award season is upon us and films are lining up to be the names called even as just nominees but especially as the winner. This means we will see a flurry of films hitting the screens in major theaters as well at film festivals, all pushing to get consideration. Well, one director finds himself in an envious situation, director Guillermo del Toro, the mind behind Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy, took a break from the Fantastic Voyage, a remake of the 1965 film, that was in production to focus on his current film that will hit festivals this year, The Shape of Water.
Deadline shared that originally Fantastic Voyage was moving forward to make a 2019 theater appearance but with del Toro turning his attention to this other film, we will see something closer to a 2020 release. The director is known for his attention to details and his meticulous method of directing so knowing he rather focus all his attention on one project at a time instead of being pulled in different directions is something any movie goer should be happy to hear.
There is no question that this is just Guillermo del Toro wanting to give his best to the project and not a step down from steering the film to completion. In meantime we can look for The Shape of Water to come to the screens December 8.
