First Film Clip From Upcoming Netflix Film DEATH NOTE Released!

Fans of the Japanese magna series Death Note have much to look forward to when Netflix releases the movie adaptation of the film next Friday.

The upcoming original film was directed by Adam Wingard (Blair WitchYou’re Next) and stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Shea Whigham (American Hustle) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man).

To wet our appetites, the film company has released a short clip in which the character L confronts Light with knowledge about the latter sparring his father’s life and how that now helped lead L to him.

Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.

Death Note will be made available to Netflix users starting August 25.
