HELLBOY Reboot To Be Darker Version Of The Character
With the reboot and relaunch of Hellboy, you might be asking yourself “what will be different about this new version?” Well, Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) is certain to bring a new flair that’s very different from Guillermo Del Toro’s vision. Not that it will be better or worse, but it’s hard to compare the visuals Del Toro brings to the screen. Having said that, Marshall would be directing David Harbour in the title role. After seeing him in Stranger Things, this could be interesting.
Right now the working title for the film is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. When Silverscreenbeat.com reached out to Andrew Cosby, whose been working on the film’s screenplay along with Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola (the creator of Hellboy), he offered this:
“I can’t really talk about specifics with regard to the story, which they’re keeping a pretty tight lid on at the moment, but I can say that this is a darker, more gruesome version of Hellboy,” Cosby said. “Neil said from the very beginning that he wanted to walk a razor’s edge between horror and comic book movie, which was music to my ears, because that’s what I was shooting for in the script, and precisely what Mignola does so well with the comics.”
Cosby also stated that everyone has been working overtime to bring the magic Mignola brings to the comics to the big screen. And, for those thinking we’re still far from seeing the film, Cosby reminds us that the script is done, and they are plotting the best way to move forward.
