Ian McShane of ‘American Gods’ Will Join HELLBOY Reboot

THR is reporting that American Gods star Ian McShane will join the reboot of the Hellboy franchise that is being directed by Neil Marshall (who has worked on Game of Thrones) and will star David Harbour as the demonic superhero.

In the movie, entitled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, McShane is expected to play Hellboy’s adoptive father Professor Bloom. The story centers around the colorful hero as he faces a medieval witch that is out to destroy humanity (what else, right?). McShane previously won accolades for his participation in Deadwood and has been seen in the John Wick movies, all of which have connections to Lionsgate, along with Hellboy.

The new film is set to start filming next month in the United Kingdom and Bulgaria, and should hit theaters some time in 2018.

His favorite films range from Back to the Future to West Side Story, depending on the time of day, and has a mildly unhealthy obsessions with the Academy Awards. Any similarity with the slightly unstable writer in the seminal 1944 film 'The Lost Weekend' is pure coincidence
