Jared Leto Confirms THE JOKER Films

Splashers, DC has managed to put the spotlight on themselves pretty well. You’ve heard that no press is bad press, well that seems to be the motto for the DCEU and whatever we’re supposed to call the offshoot they’re starting. It’s like a quiet restaurant where there is a great commotion going on in the kitchen and the chef keep saying “everything is cool.” It was rumored that Jared Leto was quite upset when the news broke that there would be a Joker origin film was being planned without him.

When caught up with at a launch event for Destiny 2, Jared Leto said this:

“Yeah, I think so. I’m a little confused too,” Leto admitted when the interviewer said she was confused about Warner Bros.’ Joker plans and asked if he was going to star in the Joker/Harley Quinn spin-off movie. “Yeah, there are a couple of things happening in the DC world… I love the Joker. He’s a great character and really fun character to play. But it’s a big universe and when you play the Joker, there’s no ownership there. You have the honor of holding the baton for a little while and then passing it off. There are other films that are in development and I’m excited to see what comes from them.”

So, there we have it. A spin-off of the Joker and Harley Quinn, hooray! And, an origin film that doesn’t involve Leto, eh. I really loved Leto’s take on the Joker. Sure, the world will perk up if Martin Scosese manages to deliver Leonardo DiCaprio as the Joker. But, what if the Joker’s origin is great? Will the keep two Jokers? What do you think?
