Keegan-Michael Key Set To Join Shane Black’s THE PREDATOR

I love Predator. I love his look. I love the sound he makes. I love how ugly he is. I love his trophy collection. I love this character. I love the fact that we’re finally getting a legit Predator reboot. Don’t get me wrong, the original is and will always be a classic to me. But much like Aliens, there’s some film universes that can be explored even deeper than others. And Shane Black wants to play in this universe and I’m not stopping him.

Director Shane Black has a vision of this universe and he’s getting ready to show us what he’s got in store for everyone’s favorite dreadlocked alien. So far the cast includes Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) and Olivia Munn (Aaron Rodgers’ girlfriend).

So far those cast announcements have been pretty quiet in my opinion. There’s no real “Arnold” type name…but if the movie is done right it won’t matter who’s in the film. We all love it when the Predator kills people. There’s no shame in that.

But the next name to join the cast actually gets me more excited to see the film.

Keegan-Michael Key joins the The Predator! It’s set to hit theaters on February 9th, 2018!

Key is best known for the Comedy Central sketch show “Key and Peele” with Jordan Peele. But now he’s becoming a movie star. His role is yet to be announced but don’t just think of him as purely just the comic relief. If you watched him in “Don’t Think Twice” he showed a bit more of his dramatic side which will be important when there’s a shoulder mounted alien gun laser pointed at your forehead.

The original was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos attempting to rescue hostages while being stalked in a jungle in Central America by a fearsome extra-terrestrial, played by Kevin Peter Hall.

Plot details are under wraps keep checking the Splash Report for more info!

Shane Black is directing from a script by Fred Dekker. John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon — who produced the original — are producing.
