Kevin Spacey Being Replaced By Christopher Plummer in ALL TH MONEY IN THE WORLD
According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Ridley Scott has decided to cut actor Kevin Spacey from Sony and Tristar’s kidnapping-thriller, ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD, and replace him with Academy Award-winner Christopher Plummer. Spacey played renowned oil tycoon J. Paul Getty in the film which chronicles the infamous 1973 kidnapping of his teenage grandson, John Paul Getty III.
Studio insiders say the director made the final decision to replace Spacey on Wednesday afternoon. Scott will now have to reshoot all of Spacey’s scenes with Plummer all within a month before the film’s initial release date on December 22nd. Plummer was originally up for the role of J. Paul Getty but Sony executives insisted on a well-known actor for the role.
Spacey’s J. Paul Getty was a supporting role which only took approximately eight days to film his scenes which were only by himself even though actors Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams are also part of the cast playing Getty’s lawyer and daughter in law respectively; Wahlberg and Williams are expected to return to film the reshoots with or without Plummer this time around.
Spacey has been under scrutiny for sexual harassment claims against him over the last two weeks. The victims who are all being identified as young males are accusing the two time Oscar winner of sexual advances and misconduct.
Netflix has already severed ties with Spacey announcing that the sixth and final season of “HOUSE OF CARDS” has been put on hold indefinitely and that the writers of the series are actively brainstorming on completely rewriting the final season of the Netflix drama so that Spacey will be written out entirely.
