Kyle Chandler Joins GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS
Kyle Chandler has joined the Legendary and Warner Bros. Godzilla: King Of Monsters.
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown also is attached to Godzilla: King of Monsters, which is part of the Legendary and Warner Bros. cinematic universe. It is slated for release on March 22, 2019.
Michael Dougherty is directing from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields.
Chandler, who won an Emmy award and received multiple nominations for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights, currently stars in Netflix’s Bloodline, for which he received two Emmy nominations for his role as John Rayburn.
Though not everyone loved 2014’s Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards, the general feeling from fans and critics was that the movie was definitely a step in the right direction. It was a fairly big hit at the box office, managing to scare up $529 million worldwide and was seen as a dramatic improvement over the 1998 Roland Emmerich directed version, which never got a sequel due to poor critical reception.
Legendary announced its plans to create a shared cinematic universe featuring both Godzilla and King Kong, as well as other giant monsters including Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Legendary’s Godzilla was the first entry in this universe, followed by the upcoming Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla: King of Monsters in 2019, culminating in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.
