Marvel’s CLOAK AND DAGGER To Start Filming Next Month!
Some comic book stories need to be told and Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger is no exception. The unique part of all this is where we’ll get to see this story unfold. It won’t be on the big screen and it won’t be on Netflix…it’s gonna be on Freeform TV.
What’s Freeform TV?
Freeform TV is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by the Disney–ABC Television Group division of The Walt Disney Company.
The channel primarily consists of TV series and films geared towards teenagers and young adults – with some programming skewing towards young women in the 14-34 age range, a target demographic designated by the channel as “becomers”, while some programming featured on Freeform (primarily consisting of movies) is secondarily geared towards a family audience.
Its programming includes contemporary off-network syndicated reruns and original series, feature films and made-for-TV original movies, and some religious programming.
Filming is set to commence this February in the state of Louisiana under the working title of “SHADOWS”. No cast has been announced yet but the expected budget for the series is a little over $30 million.
So yes, Freeform is a Disney spinoff channel and it makes complete sense considering the young ages of our Cloak and Dagger heroes.
Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger follows Tandy Bowen and Tyronne Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly acquired super powers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness.
They quickly learn that they are better together than apart–but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
