Millie Bobby Brown Cast in GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS
Uber popular child actress and Stranger Things breakout star Millie Bobby Brown is set to star in Universal’s coming Godzilla 2. Brown’s Eleven has become a pop culture icon, and is set to return for the second season of Stranger Things. Plot details are being kept under wraps, as are character details.
Presumably, the movie will feature a giant monster fighting another giant monster. The film will be directed by Krampus director Michael Doughtery. The Godzilla sequel, titled Godzilla: King of Monsters, will arrive in theaters on March 2019. In is an entry in Universal’s Monster Cinematic Franchise. The next film, Kong: Skull Island, comes out this March.
Millie Bobby Brown had roles in both Grey’s Anatomy and Once Upon the Time before landing the role of Eleven in Stranger Things. She was nominated for a SAG for her performance. She is so far the only actress cast in the movie and will presumably have a major role. It’s interesting as to what she will be doing, as Brown is a child.
The decision to choose Krampus director Michael Doughtery continues the Hollywood tradition of studio heads picking young indie directors to take on massive franchise properties. Sometimes it goes well, as seen in Jurassic World. It can also be an enormous mistake, as seen in the Josh Trank/Fox debacle upon the release of Fantastic Four.
The first Godzilla was released in 2014 to the tune of 530 million dollars worldwide. It was directed by Gareth Edwards, who went on the direct Star Wars: Rogue One. The film starred Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor Johnson, both of whom will not be reprising their roles in the sequel.
Kong: Skull Island is directed by Kings of Summers director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. It stars current “It Girl” Brie Larson, as well as Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Tom Hiddleston, and John C. Reilly. Godzilla vs. Kong will be released in 2020.
