MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 6 Halts Production Over Tom Cruise Injury

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 6 Halts Production Over Tom Cruise Injury

Maybe, Mission Impossible 6 will be able to have Jeremy Renner film a few scenes after all. It’s certainly possible now his Avengers duties will be over by the time the franchise’s star, Tom Cruise, is back on his feet and ready to go. According to the UK Sun, Cruise will require many months to recover after he broke bones following an action stunt failure. What exactly happened was Cruise was in the middle of a roof jump. When he hit the building, he injured his leg as he crashed into the side of it.

An insider for the film’s production said things were worse than initially thought. The insider stated:

“The injury is worse than was at first feared. Tom did serious damage and will need months to recover.”

Apparently, the studio had no choice whatsoever because Cruise is the star of the film.

The insider added:

“He is the film’s biggest star and everything revolves around him. The movie’s bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming.”

The accident occurred in central London at Blackfriars. He was helped by medics at the scene and his X-rays showed how damaging his accident was. Cruise is reportedly heading back to the USA for medical treatment. Because of his incident, he could be given opiate drugs in order to deal with the immense amount of pain he may be in. If he does that, he runs the risk of ending up needing an opiate addiction rehab. It could land the actor in even more trouble and delay the production further.

Cruise has been accused of having problems with drugs in the past. Another huge problem the film is facing will be the financing because of rescheduling the film and the uncertainty of when it will continue filming. This puts the release date of the film in question, which was planned for summer 2018, and it might be pushed to the holiday season for that year. Cruise being known for doing his own stunts is one of the biggest draws for his fans going to his movies. In fact, Mission Impossible franchise producer, David Ellison, acknowledged Cruise’s skill set in March.

Ellison said:

“What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable – he has been training for a year. It’s gonna be mind-blowing.”

Cruise has done many crazy stunts throughout the Mission Impossible franchise including scaling the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and dangling from a plane. To this date, it has not been reported Cruise has previously been injured doing the crazy stunts he has done. Now, Cruise has two broken bones in his ankles.

In some ways, this could benefit the film if they are able to accommodate Renner as a result of the delay in schedule. It would only add to the already amazing cast including Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan, and Ving Rhames. Renner’s character, William Brandt, has been pretty integral to the overall franchise since his introduction in Ghost Protocol.

It may even let Henry Cavill, another cast member, shave his mustache off after all the controversy that went into that between Paramount Studios and Warner Bros. Yet, the hope is there is not any serious medical work that needs to be done. The concern could be if he is given opiate drugs for the pain that he may then be sent to an opiate addiction rehab afterward. Given Cruise’s resilience, he will probably jump right back into the saddle.

He’s Tom Cruise after all. Who would ever doubt he will just jump right back into the action? He lives for these movies as well as do his fans. Here’s hoping he recovers quickly and the film gets back on track. It’s time for Ethan Hunt to return back to the big screen once more.
