Has Ridley Scott Already Begun Plotting Blade Runner 3?
Splashistas, it’s funny, just last night I was in a conversation about how no one saw Bladerunner 2049. I mean, there were a couple of people, but nowhere near what everyone hoped for in this long-awaited sequel. Well, if you’re a big fan of the original, or its sequel, you’re in luck. Ridley Scott isn’t ready to let that flame die out just yet, he hopes there’s scope left for another entry. So rejoice! Blade Runner 3 may only be a few years away. Here’s what he had to say to Digital Spy recently:
“I hope so… I think there is another story. I’ve got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure.”
But, don’t go holding your breath for the sequel to go into production right away. Sure, that last one had a 25 year gap, which was way too long even by Scott’s admission. But, next on Scott’s plate is a film called All the Money in the World, a dramatization of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail to convince his billionaire grandfather to pay the ransom. For those unfamiliar, it’s the film Kevin Spacey was starring in until his allegations came to the public. So, there are scenes to film (with Christopher Plummer subbing for Spacey’s action scenes) and wrapping all that post-production goodness.
But, perhaps after All the Money in the World releases, we’ll start hearing more details about this new idea Scott is crafting.
