Rumor: Spidey Cameo In VENOM Movie?

As far as we have heard so far, the Spider-Man spinoff movie Venom will be a film entirely separated from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will have its own plot. Although the contours of that story are itself unclear, everyone has been operating under the assumption that Tom Holland won’t be anywhere near the project, with which Marvel doesn’t even have a producing role. That is, until the recent Spider-Man cameo rumor surfaced.

But doc director Jon Schnepp now claims that we will be seeing Holland’s incarnation of the webbed hero in the upcoming film, set for a 2018 release, starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams. Speaking to Collider’s Movie Talk, Schnepp said:

“Spider-Man is going to be in Venom. For the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing how Sony is keeping it all separated, and Spider-Man is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate. All I’m saying is that Spider-Man – and I’m talking about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man – is going to be in Venom.”

The source of his definite authority to claim he knows about this Spider-Man cameo is not at all clear. So, until we get official studio confirmation, the statement must be treated as a rumor, even if it’s such a convincing sounding one.
