STAR WARS: EPISODE IX: New Screenwriter Set for Final Trilogy
According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Jack Thorne has been tapped to rewrite the script for director Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars: Episode IX. Throne has recently worked on the drama Wonder starring Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts.
Thorne’s credits includes the British TV dramas The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last Panthers and National Treasure.
Trevorrow has been working on the most recent draft of the script with his co-writer, Derek Connolly. Inside sources say, “a fresh set of eyes was needed” for the script.
Actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are expected to return for the third and final film in the new Star Wars trilogy with production rumored to begin in January 2018. Rian Johnson wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth installment of the franchise that will open in theaters December 15, 2017.
Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for a May 24th, 2019 release date.
