Former Lois Lane Teri Hatcher Joins CW’s SUPERGIRL
Teri Hatcher, who portrayed Lois Lane for four seasons on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has joined the cast of CW’s Supergirl.
Hatcher is said to be playing the role of an unnamed villain for an arc in the show’s currently airing second season.
Back in 1993, Teri Hatcher took on the classic comic book and film character, journalist Lois Lane, in Lois & Clark – The New Adventures of Superman. Starring opposite Dean Cain in the dual role of the man of steel and Clark Kent, she became part of a television super couple.
Fans of the show watched the complicated romantic situation unfold as the series progressed, with Lois in love with Superman, not knowing that he is actually Kent. In the true comic book tradition, they also tuned in to see the battle between good and evil as Superman worked to save the city of Metropolis from the likes of bad guys like Lex Luthor.
The executive producer on Supergirl, Andrew Kreisberg, had this to say after the casting:
“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, [executive producer] Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”
Lois and Clark’s Superman, Dean Cain, also appears on Supergirl as Kara’s adoptive father, Jeremiah Danvers.
Supergirl is an American superhero action-adventure drama television series developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg (the latter two having previously created Arrow and The Flash) that originally aired on CBS and premiered on October 26, 2015.
It is based on the DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, and stars Melissa Benoist in the title role. She is a costumed superheroine who is the cousin to Superman and one of the last surviving Kryptonians.
Will we see a Lois and Clark reunion on Supergirl? Hmmm…
