Tom Felton Expresses Interest in Reprising Draco Malfoy Role

While actor Tom Felton has recently landed a recurring role in the hit CW show The Flash, the Draco Malfoy actor has expressed interest in returning to the role that made him famous. JK Rowling recently shut down rumors of a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The film is now rumored to come out in 2026, fifteen years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The Harry Potter franchise has inarguably been one of the most successful franchises in the world. The Cursed Child follows older versions of Harry, Ron, and Hermonie. Draco Malfoy appears in The Cursed Child as well. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was produced as a stage play in London last year.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first spinoff of the Harry Potter franchise, was released in 2016 and grossed 800 million dollars at the box office. A sequel will arrive in theaters in 2018. There are intended to be five films in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, with a young Dumbledore playing a major role. Johnny Depp had a surprise cameo in Fantastic Beasts as the series’ antagonist Grindelwald. While the Harry Potter films were primarily focused on Harry and his two best friends, the Fantastic Beasts franchise seems more interested in world building.

A 2026 adaptation of The Cursed Child would be akin to 2015’s The Force Awakens, if not even more anticipated. It is unknown if all of the actors would reprise the roles that they originated. Emma Watson is currently one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood, and will be featured in this March’s Beauty and the Beast. Daniel Radcliffe has been featured in cult indie films such as Swiss Army Man and Horns. Rupert Grint has taken a more low key career path than Watson or Radcliffe, and mostly stays out of the public limelight.
