X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Cast Meets Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

The X-Men: Dark Phoenix cast got to meet a real life superhero.

This past weekend X:Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg and young Professor X himself, James McAvoy, shared a picture from when part of the cast attended a dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The picture shows Prime Minister Trudeau, James McAvoy , Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, and producer Hutch Parker. McAvoy and Smit-McPhee were also accompanied by their partners, Lisa Liberati and Rebecca Phillipou.

From the looks of it the picture was taken in Montreal, Quebec. This all but confirms that filming in Canada for the upcoming X-Men sequel is rocking and rolling. Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, and Nicholas Hoult are the only original members from the X-Men: First Class cast that didn’t get to enjoy that delicious Canadian oyster meal. A mutant aphrodisiac I presume.

Prime Minister Trudeau is no stranger to Marvel comics. Last year he made his comic book debut in Marvel’s Civil War II: Choosing Sides. Lounging in his corner of the boxing ring, Trudeau rocks Canadian Maple-Leaf gear with red boxing gloves and black shorts on the comic’s cover image. The prime minister joins the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight, with the likes of Sasquatch, Aurora, and Puck.

Plot details for X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie are said to be “crudely adapted” from the 2006 X-Men: The Last Stand movie, but to be more in line with the Chris Claremont and John Byrne X-Men comic books. Lilandra will lead the quest to imprison and execute the Dark Phoenix, which sends her into conflict with the X-Men.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix has a November 2, 2018 release written and directed by Simon Kinberg also starring Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, with Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Jessica Chastain is rumored for Lilandra.

In more X-Men news, According to EW, a new character named Alison Blaire a.k.a Dazzler has been confirmed to appear in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The character was first acknowledged and hinted in a deleted scene from X-Men: Apocalypse.
